Domestic Green Engineer
New Technologies and changes in the environment are leading to a rapidly increasing demand for a new type of worker – the ‘green collar’ professional.

Following UK and European legislation in 2007 and 2008, residential properties, commercial properties, sale/rental properties and public buildings now need Energy Performance Certificates (EPCS). There is also a requirement for Home Information Packs (HIPS), Floorplans, Inventories and Professional Photographs.
As a qualified Professional Property Marketer you can provide your clients with a comprehensive business to business package, offering every one of these services. Your client base will be Estate Agents, commercial landlords, Lawyers, residential owners and residential landlords.
Historically, your clients would have had to hire two or three different people to produce the EPC, Home Information Pack, Inventory and Floor Plan. A requirement under 17th edition wiring regulations that all circuits be inspected and tested for safety prior to a circuit being switched on.

Electrical testing. Pat testing or portable appliance testing is an important part of any health & safety policy. The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing.
Also includes: legislation, regulations operation of equipment, electrical test results, PAT testing and the Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
Why?
A legal requirement, requiring a regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing on all electrical equipment in the work place and enables delegates to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to be able to instigate and implement a testing programme for portable electrical testing appliances.
Example:
- Where appliances are used by employees.
- Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops etc.
- Where appliances are supplied or hired.
- Where appliances are repaired or serviced

Photovoltaic Energy is the science of converting light into electrical energy, and is achieved through the use of semiconductors, or photovoltaic solar cells, i.e. solar paneling.
